Dr. Carolyn Garcia, PhD, MPH, RN, SANE-A is an Associate Professor in the Population Health and Systems Cooperative in the School of Nursing. Her clinical expertise includes adolescent health, public health nursing, and forensic nursing. She has worked as a public health nurse in Africa, including post-genocide health promotion efforts in 1995 and in the United States in numerous settings including disaster response after 9-11 and the 35W bridge collapse. She is currently involved in collaborative research across North America and Africa, addressing threats to health that range from uninsurance and social stigmas to migration and zoonotic diseases.
